Sá Carneiro Airport, Porto
WDL - Brand & Retail
We were invited to develop a large project at the Sá Carneiro Airport, in Porto. This project envisaged the design of the restaurant space and the communication of a total of 3 stores, arranged continuously, along the area of high visibility which is the access corridor to the boarding gates.
Two of these concepts existed previously, also developed by WDL, thus being able to develop from scratch the Identity, Communication and Environment of a whole new concept, named Sushi Passion.
We tried to develop a stylized harmony, using bright natural materials and simple geometric lines. The greatest emphasis was placed on the public service counter area, a visual focal point around which the entire space was built.
Monochromatic tones are predominant in the communication of this space, allowing natural textures and materials to be the protagonists, providing an environment of balance, well-being and comfort.
The developed logo refers to a manual, less formal line, whose overall shape works as a mix between the design of a sushi piece and the shape of a heart, thus referring to the name Sushi Passion.
The rest of the communication oscillates between the iconographic representation of the elements and a simple yet elegant language, using sushi images with strong tones, with elegant arrangements and little visual noise.
For a coherent communication of the entire concept of the restaurant, our design studio has developed various graphic pieces reflected in the visual identity of the Sushi Passion brand, such as individual uniforms, packaging, flags, menus, panels and digital totem.
The visual palette is of neutral tones (white, black and gray) with only a strong and unusual accent color that brings identity to life and complements the various elements in use.
This shade is green that refers to bamboo and Japanese natural fibers. Textures are also an important element in the identity, working together with this color.
